FAQs

How can counseling help me? How do I know if I should start?

At the most basic level, counseling provides a space for you to explore yourself and effect change from within. It can also help you learn coping skills, improve your relationships and to communicate more effectively. You don’t have to have trauma or a big life change to start counseling (though those are also very valid reasons to!). Anyone can benefit from time set aside on a regular basis to prioritize your mental health.

How long/how often are sessions?

A typical counseling session is 50 minutes in length. I also offer 30 and 90 minute sessions so you can choose which option best fits your needs at any time. Most clients start with weekly or bi-weekly sessions and decrease as they start to meet their counseling goals. The length of overall time you spend in counseling is up to you & is something we can discuss as you progress.

Do you take insurance?

I am in-network with United Health Care. Your out of pocket cost for counseling depends on your specific plan benefits, which can be checked ahead of time by request. You can verify my in-network status through your member portal by searching my name. I am also able to provide superbills for you to submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement. For all other clients, I am private pay with a limited number of sliding scale slots available on a weekly basis. Prices are listed on the Services page. Please contact directly to inquire about sliding scale options.

What payments do you accept?

Accepted payment forms are credit card, HSA, cash or check. A credit or debit card is required to be on file and you can choose to sign up for auto-pay so you don’t have to worry about keeping up with payments.
